The Nádasdy-castle in the town of Sárvár is one of the monuments which survived the turmoil of centuries unharmed. The shift between the Renaissance and Baroque took place during the one and a half century long reign of one of the most influential families in Hungary, the Nádasdy-family. While there is a Renaissance row of arcades in the courtyard, the Knights’ Hall and the neighbouring salons show Baroque features. The Estei-family from Modena restored the castle in a classicistic style at the beginning of the 19th century. The last owners of the castle, the Bavarian Wittelsbach-family, spent their time until 1945 here.

The Ferenc Nádasdy museum has been open to visitors on an area of 1.300 m2 with temporary and permanent exhibitions for more than half a century.

The Sárvár arboretum is one of the oldest collections in Hungary The earliest documents from Vas county mention the arboretum in Sárvár. Its predecessor was founded 1546 as a fruit and vegetable garden. With regard to its flora, the arboretum can theoretically be split into two parts. One part is the remnant of the flooded forest which gives an insight into conditions prior to the urbanisation. Here you can find 400-years-old English oaks, ash trees, along with younger field elms surrounding the one hectare fishpond along with common mixed species and bushes of the floodplain forest. The other part of the arboretum is the classic arboretum where the image you can see today is the result of works having begun 200 years earlier. Here you can find the most valuable species. The landscape is dominated by 200 year old sycamore trees, yews, Japanese pagoda trees, bully trees and black pines, along with one-leaved ashes. Later on there were 100-130 year old magnolias planted.

The most attractive part of the Sarvar area is without doubt its two completely different types of healing water upon which the development of Sarvar is based. In the Sarvar area, healing water which springs from a depth of 1200 metres reaches a temperature of 43 °C, while the water which originates from a depth of 2000 metres has a very high salt content and reaches the much higher temperature of 83 °C. From the 83 °C rich saline water, the famous Sarvar crystal is produced through the process of evaporation. This salt abundant medicinal healing water can be used effectively in the treatment of certain ailments and locomotive diseases as well as for dermatology and gynaecology. The 43 °C thermal water contains alkaline hydrogen carbonates and is especially suitable for the treatment of locomotive disorders, rehabilitative after-treatment (including sport injuries), neurological complaints and muscle relaxing baths.

A lake system consisting of four parts on an area on hectares can be found in the vicinity of the spa. Boating Lake Prev Next Five bridges connecting five islands, with mallards nesting on them, complete this experience. In the summer you can fish or row, in winter you can iceskate on the lake.

In the proximate neighborhood of the Spa and Wellness Center in Sárvár, an adventure park in the forest opened with high rope courses with 120 stations, a 10 m -high climbing wall, an archery field and a training garden. Sliding on ropes over the lake, stumbling-blocks between the trees in the height of 8 meters are challenging for even the bravest ones. In the park there are not only extreme courses, in the forest you can find two courses for small children (3-6 years) and other 3 for primary school students.
