Subotica
With a population of 100 000, Subotica is the second most poplous city after Novi Sad, and the administrative center of North Bačka District.
The city located 10 kilometres from the Hungarian border is the cultural and political center of Hungarians, Serbs and Bunjevci in Vojvodina.
In its heyday at the turn of the 20th century, the most prominent artist of the later theater scene in Pest were raised here. Also, his childhood in Subotica inspired the best of Dezső Kosztolányi's writings.
Subotica is known for its architectural sights: churches of different nations, masterpieces of Hungarian Art Nouveau.
