Pozarevacka Church, Szentendre
This Serbian Orthodox, Baroque church is was built at the Southern entrance of Inner Szentendre, on the shore of the Bükkös Stream. In accordance with orthodox rules, the facade of the building is not facing the street. The church tower has a height of 23 meters and is somewhat different from the look of the nave. We can step inside the church through a late Baroque (Copf) style gate.
The single nave church has a three part Bohemian vault. The walls are covered with stucco-like, painted decorations. The iconostasis is the oldest one in Szentendre, according to legend it was brought here by the settling Serbs in the 17th century. Its age can also be predicted by its height: earlier icon walls were lower and later they were as tall as the interior of the church. It is richly gilded and still simpler as other iconostases.
