Helikon Beach, Keszthely
As the number of tourist coming to Balaton grew in the years after World War I and the Island Bath was not able to admit everyone at once, the organisation of the Southern bank started and a beach was opened in 1927. The Helikon Beach was developed gradually starting from the 1950's.
The 19 000 m² large beach on the southwestern end of Keszthely, far away from the traffic, offers plenty of places for sunbathing but it also has shady parts where we can have a pleasant lunch or play board games. Smaller children can also play safely as there is a sandy bay especially for children.
Visitors can rent paddle boats, kayaks, sunbeds, and eat in the buffets and restaurants. There are two parking lots in front and next to the beach, and there is also a guarded bicycle rack.
In 2014, the Helicon Beach won the Blue Flag Award for its excellent quality.
