Danube Museum, Esztergom
The exhibition, housed in a Baroque building, presents the history of Hungary's water resources and water management. The location of the museum is also telling because during the Great Flood in 1838 the aid center was operating in this building.
By walking through the permanent exhibition, we can learn about the chemical and physical properties of water, glimpse into the history of Hungarian water management which includes topics such as flood control, cartography and drainage. The exhibition is presented in an interactive way, visitors can try hydraulic structures and even sit in a helicopter simulator and fly over the waters of the country. The museum won the Museum of the Year Award in 2001.
