Town Hall and the Main Square of Vác
The town hall is the most important monument of the secular Baroque architecture of Vác. It was built in the 1730's on the sport of an earlier Turkish bath. Above the basket arched gate with bosses there is a beautiful, Baroque, wrought-iron balcony. On the facade above the balcony, there is the coat of arms of Vác in an illuminated frame, and on the uppermost part of the facade there is the statue of Justicia, the Roman goddess of justice, and two other female statues on her sides, holding the coat of army of Hungary and the Migazzi family.
In the center of the square there is the Fountain of Sister Cities with the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Every year, the city's Christmas tree is placed behind the building called Constantine Garden.
The end of the square is marked by the modern version of the one-time Viennese Gate.
