Újbuda Center Station

To cover the distance between certain stations of line 4 takes shorter on foot than by taking the underground.

The distance between Móricz Zsigmond Square and Újbuda Center is shorter than 500 meters, however, their vital importance in transportation provided a good reason for separate stations. Allee Shopping Mall and the Market Hall of Fehérvári Street make this location one of the most frequented spot of the district. Church buildings also contribute to busy life here including the Reformed Church of Kelenföld, the Evangelical Church of Kelenföld and the Bét Sálom Synagogue of Lágymányos.

The station was designed in preparation for a future extension of the line towards Budafok.

Just like in other stations you can discover some special design elements here as well. Glass walls along the escalators are illuminated in green while the middle layer of the 3-layer glass was broken to create a unique pattern.

Playing with glass is a key motif in the station. The glass back of the benches on the platforms is decorated with artwork by textile artist Andrea Hegedűs. At the end of the platforms the glass wall hides imprints of various objects.

The changing backlight and the green metal plates on the ceiling also contribute to the complex visual experience. Design here was aimed to resemble an undersea environment.
