B32 Gallery and Art Hall
After being closed for a year it was in 2014 when B32 cultural center reopened at 32 Bartók Béla Street together with Csontváry Art Hall awaiting fans of fine arts, music and theatre.
Previously Bartók 32 Gallery had been an iconic center of contemporary fine arts since the ‘90s offering opportunity for several young or avant-garde artists to present themselves. As part of the Újbuda Cultural Center program, Bartók 32 Gallery was greatly extended in 2014 bringing considerable changes over a year. By covering the inner yard, a theatre and concert hall seating 120 viewers emerged. The basement had become a separate exhibition area called Trezor Gallery and as the final stage of the development, Csontváry Art Hall was opened.
Not much to explain the name as it is located at 32 Bartók Béla Street. However, the reason why the new art center just bears the name of Csontváry may not be that obvious. It was the top floor of the building right next to the art center, with Hadik Café on the ground floor, where Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry lived and worked in his last 10 years.
