St. Mauritius Benedictine Monastery, Bakonybél
The Baroque-style church and cloister building, which creates an ancient atmosphere with its nice arboretum, was built by the Benedictine Order in the 18th century.
In the middle of the 20th century, at the time of the people’s democracy, the Benedictine monks had to leave the monastery which was restored to the ownership of the St. Benedictine Order of Pannonhalma only 40 years later. The St. Mauritius Monastery of Bél was founded in 1998 to preserve traditions and pass them on to posterity. After you have explored the church and the monastery building, the St. Gunther Pilgrimage Yard in the neighbourhood welcomes you to take a rest there.
