Villa Romana Baláca (Nemesvámos)

The largest Roman-age farm estate in Transdanubia can be found here, offering a lot of new information and experiences. It shows us a small part of life in the Roman times. The central building hosts a reception room and museum-pedagogy hall. You can see stunning pieces of the stone-carving heritage of Veszprém County in the lapidarium. In the parklike ruins garden there is a smaller garden where the various uses of Roman-age spices and herbs are demonstrated, thus intensifying the Mediterranean atmosphere of the place. A former mausoleum resembling Italian tombstones can be found about 600 metres away from the centre of the farm estate.
